Aubrey reached out to me with her 5-month-old son, Henry. She was desperate to find a solution to help her son take naps, sleep through the night, and self-settle. During our conversation, Aubrey mentioned that Henry had never been a good napper or slept well at night since he was a newborn. He needed to be fed to sleep or rocked, which didn't always work, making his days very unpredictable and Aubrey felt like she wasn't sure what Henry needed at times.
We discussed various techniques that would suit her and Henry, and agreed on a gentle settling technique. Along with this technique, we made some changes to help support his sleep further to give him the best possible chance at success. Aubrey was very committed and persistent with implementing Henry's Tailored Plan.
Within just 3 days, Henry was making significant improvements in daytime sleep. It appeared that he was stuck in an overtired loop from not enough daytime sleep, leading to an overtired bub at bedtime and frequent night wakings. By day 7, Henry was going down for his naps in his cot and needed less and less hands-on settling to get to sleep too! His nights started to fall into place too, he was sleeping longer stretches without needing milk as often from the changes we made during the day. After 14 days, Henry was only waking twice a night for feeds, taking 3 naps a day in his cot and Aubrey had gained some well-deserved sleep back!
Aubrey was amazed at the changes Henry had made and how much of a different child he was now that he was sleeping at night, taking decent naps and could self-settle with a little support! Aubrey felt confident that she was going to be able to manage onwards without our support by using the tips and tools we'd given her.
